Chicago's Home of Chicken and Waffles
We've been living in this neck of the woods for over a year and were surprised we never made our way down to Chicago's Home of Chicken and Waffles. We first heard about it on Check Please! Since fried chicken is one of Jared's favorite food groups, it was inevitable that we would be dining here sooner or later. A couple weeks ago we figured it was about time, so we called up our foodie friends and made a lunch date. We heard that this restaurant gets crowded fast at all times of the day and all days of the week! So we made a point to get there around 1:30 on a Saturday and hoped for the best. And yes, when we arrived it was still a full house! Says a lot about a food joint, no? Luckily though, we were able to be seated right away. They offer both indoor ( I <3 AC) and patio seating.

The menu consisted of various combination of chicken pieces and waffles. You can either choose to have it smothered in onions and gravy or plain. There were many side items to choose from as well. We opted for what the restaurant is famous for, waffles and fried chicken. The chicken were well seasoned, crispy and juicy. The waffles were light and fluffy. Mind you these two items are not to be eaten separately! There's something about the sweet maple syrup that when it drenches the fried chicken skin that it becomes something magical. Its like honey bbq chicken without the bbq- except better.

For the price, you get a hefty portion of chicken and waffles. I am ready to go back again, though my advice for you is to come early and come hungry!
