We flew into Los Angeles on Monday to visit Jared's parents and lucky for us it was also the Chinese New Year. The next morning, I woke up to the smell of something oh-so-terrific. Mama Zhao was making fresh deep fried sweet dumplings. This was the chewy version made with glutinous rice flour and either a red bean paste or another paste made with sesame seeds, sugar and coconut. One of the best breakfasts I've had in a very long time. What a way to start the day ... and our vacation!
