My New Favorite Restaurant: The Publican / by Alice Zhao

As part of my week long birthday celebration, my foodie friends took Jared and I to The Publican, a beer focused restaurant. I believe this would be considered a gastropub. They are the latest food trend as we speak. It features communal seating at 3 long tables in a U shape and 4-person booths with a door to close you in to make you really feel like a farmed pig! Every dish we ordered was amazingly good, there wasn't a dish I didn't love. I can't wait to go back, but I think I need some time to recover from the cholesterol high first!

Frites with garlic aioli, these are a must!!!
Spicy Pork Rinds, nice, light and airy

Daily Pickles

Shigoku & Kumamoto Oysters.  Good fresh oysters with a clean taste.

Charcuterie Plate
Head Cheese, Duck and Foie Gras Terrine, Pork Pie and chorizo served with pickles and mustards

Sweet Bread with fresh peas.  They were seared and seasoned to perfection, leaving it light and creamy.  If you don't know what sweetbread is, it ain't bread! 

Three kinds of tender braised meat.  Highly recommended.
Basque Stew.  Large portion of various seafood that is enough to feed 3.  The broth is mild yet flavorful.  You can really taste the seafood.   
Pork Belly.  Enough said.
