A Sneak Preview: Molecular Gastronomy / by Alice Zhao

We wanted to give you a sneak preview of things to come. For Christmas, my siblings and cousin partook in a secret santa gift exchange. We all emailed out our wish lists and Jared's included 1 lb bag of sodium alginate and 1 lb bag of calcium chloride. My brother-in-law responded with a "Sorry, but we don't support terrorist activity". Fortunately, Jared's secret santa found a way to bypass the FBI watchdogs and scored him these potentially addictive white powders. We're still trying to pick out a recipe/flavor we want to try, but here is a collection of pictures of our new legally obtained products! (We are just playing with different post-processing options.)

Assorted White Powders ;)

It's good to know people with access... =P
This one by far is my favorite.

Suddenly this makes me want to hum the theme to Doogie Howser, M.D. I will now leave you with NPH's brilliant performance on SNL this past Saturday. By the way, it was one of the best SNL's I've seen in a LONG LONG time. That is, of course, the first half. I don't think there has ever been a second half SNL to have been solidly funny- at least not since I've started watching. Enjoy!
