The only way we knew how to continue our epic morning with Keijiro Doi was with an epic ramen lunch! After we dropped off our bags at our hotel, we headed to Umeda, Osaka and waited in line at Ippudo ramen. Ippudo is a famous ramen chain in Japan that serves Hakata Style ramen or Tonkotsu ramen with its white milky pork broth. They even have a chain in NYC. I wonder how long before we will see a shop open here in Chicago (ahem ahem).
Wow, this really brought back memories of the first time I tasted authentic ramen 3 years ago in Fukuoka. It was my first meal when I first got to Japan back then and how fitting it was my first meal coming back to Japan this time. Anyway, less talking, more eating, more pics…

Anybody know what that dark oil/sauce is? Whatever it was, it was friggen awesome.

Before our late dinner reservation that night, we headed to Dotonbori for a stroll down memory lane. We spent some time here 3 years ago after Jared proposed and this is where I had my first taste of Takoyaki.

I heart fresh Takoyaki!

At Bic Camera in Namba, we saw a setup for food photography and couldn’t help but take this picture. :)

I wish I had known I could have gotten good ramen in NYC last November. I got hungry watching Tom and the other 40,000 marathoners running! At least now I know I don't really have to spend the money and go all the way to Japan to eat something you are torturing me with in your blog. ($0.57)

I know this is an old post but I stumbled onto your blog and saw your question about the black liquid.  It is most likely black garlic oil
